What is endodontic therapy?
Perhaps you’ve more commonly heard of this as a root canal. When a tooth has become overwhelmed by infection or a traumatic event, it often creates damage and decay to a nerve. When this nerve damage occurs, it needs to be removed from the tooth before bacteria continues to enter and creates further damage.
The most important aspect of a root canal is that a seal is created to prevent bacteria from entering in the future. Typically, a crown is also necessary to structurally support a tooth after a root canal has been completed. Root canals can sometimes seem daunting for patients, especially when one hasn’t experienced a root canal before.
